Bullied boy gets national spotlight, visit from his favorite athlete
By Staff Writer
Four months ago, a 13-year-old Pennsylvania boy was bullied by seven of his peers, and the beating was caught on tape. As he was kicked, dragged through the snow and stuffed into a tree, some adults stood by and did not intervene.
However, the boy showed true grit. According to ESPN.com, Nadin Khoury allowed his mother to share the video in order to raise awareness about bullying in U.S. schools. Khoury and his mother recently appeared on the television show "The View," and the boy was rewarded for his bravery.
According to the media outlet, Philadelphia Eagles side receiver DeSean Jackson, Khoury's favorite football player, and two other Eagles players came onto the stage to greet the boy who took a beating and was willing to go public with it to spread an anti-bullying message. Furthermore, the star receiver announced the start of his own nonprofit, DeSean Jackson Against Bullying, and gave Khoury and his family tickets to Eagles and Philadelphia 76ers games, as well as autographed jerseys and T-shirts.
The news source reports that the bullies in the video were handcuffed by police and taken out of school. Six of the seven alleged attackers are facing potential criminal charges.
Problem teens who tease or physically harm their classmates may benefit from tough love. Parents may consider removing their children from public school and sending them to boarding school.
