Treatment provider for autistic children adds branch on East Coast
By Staff Writer
A therapy provider for children with learning disabilities has announced that it will expand its pediatric services for children who have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
The group Achieve Beyond said the new additions are in response to the increasing number of kids who are diagnosed with autism in the U.S. Children who live in Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC will now have access to the organization's therapy services. The group has existing branches in Illinois, California and New York.
A team of professionals, which includes psychologists, behavior analysts and program supervisors as well as speech and occupational therapists, develop an individualized program by providing detailed assessments. The group of experts assist autistic children in a variety of behaviors, such as communicating with peers and gaining independence.
The professional team educates parents with in-depth training on dealing with challenging behaviors. Achieve Beyond says that children with an ASD are more likely to excel when their learning opportunities are maximized every day at home.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that an average of one in 110 children in the U.S. have an ASD.
