Parents' attitudes heavily influence their child's behavior
By Staff Writer
A parenting style can influence how indifferent their teenagers are and how much responsibility they will take for their actions, a recent article states.
According to the Herald Times Reporter, there are three types of parents: the helicopter, the drill sergeant and the love and logic parent. The helicopter guardian hovers and protects their children from any negative encounters. The drill sergeant is strict and commands their kids' lives. The love and logic parent provides guidance and consultation for their children.
The news provider states that the helicopter and drill sergeant parents typically attempt to justify their offspring's inappropriate behavior, preventing them from taking responsibility and experiencing failure.
Teachers at a Wisconsin high school are attempting to implement the love and logic technique in the classroom setting, according to the news provider. As a result, the teachers report that they are spending more time teaching and less time punishing.
While some teachers are doing their part to curb negative behavior among children, the most influential role models are parents and primary care givers, according to an expert's opinion on Education.com. A child who has a secure, open and loving relationship with their parent is more likely to have confidence and academic success.
