By Staff Writer
A leader in cloud-based online safety products recently released a free Facebook application for children who are being cyberbullied.
PCMag.com reports that Safety Web has made a support program available on the popular social networking site, giving victims of bullying quick access to resources for help. Once the app is installed, a "Find Help" tab appears in the user's profile. The program offers advice along with links to report specific cases of abuse.
In addition, the "Find Help" feature directs individuals to a list of phone numbers for various help hotlines. One of the available support resources is the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The president of the center told the news source that it is important for kids to know that it is easy to report incidents of cyberbullying.
Recently, bullying has made national headlines as several adolescents and young adults have committed suicide because of incidences of online harassment. According to a survey conducted by the Cyberbullying Research Center, a total of 7.5 percent of students reported being harassed online in 2009.
